“Campo Marina” Primitivo di Manduria
The red wine grows in the Apulia region, at the bottom of the Italian boot. Wines from original and now rediscovered grape varieties are grown there. For more than 3000 years, vines have been cultivated in this area by tradition, which the local winemakers respectfully consider for all wines. In the modern cellars, the well-known local wines are made from the autochthonous varieties.
The Primitivo di Manduria is made from 100% vines of this local variety and gently pressed after a temperature-controlled maceration for 3 weeks. The wine is then matured in French oak barrels. It is stored here for 4 months before it is bottled and sold.
In the nose, the Primitivo unfolds a very complex and fruity bouquet. Ripe red fruits such as blackberries and elderberries are in the foreground, along with hints of cocoa and vanilla.
The taste of the wine is very strong and full-bodied. It is full-bodied with a nice persistent finish. The full aroma comes into its own on the palate. In contrast to its “big brother”, the “Folle”, the taste of the wine is drier with stronger tannins.
Luccarelli Vini winery
The Luccarelli winery has a family winemaking tradition that goes back to the 19th century. Over the years, modernizations have been carried out and the winery has been equipped with the most modern oenological equipment.
Today the company’s goals are to maintain the high quality of the wines produced and to carefully follow the various phases of winemaking, from the selection of the grapes to the packaging of the end product.
Matching dishes
After a good meal with friends, the Primitivo di Manduria puts the finishing touches on a cozy evening. The Primitivo goes well with strong dishes, such as game goulash with juniper and some dark chocolate. A hearty grilled steak, roast wild boar or gratinated pecorino cheese with fig confit and balsamic dressing would also be real highlights.
