Ventisquero Winery: A Chilean Wine Tradition in Harmony with Nature
Founded by Gonzalo Vial Vial in 1996, Ventisquero Winery is a shining example of Chilean viticulture. The first vines were planted in 1998 on the Trinidad property in the coastal area of the Maipo Valley, where the winery was later built. Originally known as Viña Lo Miranda, the winery was renamed Viña Vial and eventually inaugurated in 1999 as Ventisquero, a tribute to the Chilean glaciers and Patagonia. The first wines, led by head winemaker Felipe Tosso, hit the market in 2001.
Sustainability and Environmental Protection
Ventisquero is distinguished by its strong commitment to sustainability. Being designated as “Certified Sustainable Wine of Chile” highlights this commitment. Ventisquero is dedicated not only to environmental protection but also to preserving the native flora and fauna in its vineyards. This philosophy is reflected in every aspect of their wine production, from the careful selection of grapes to environmentally friendly processing.
Diversity of Vineyards
The winery owns vineyards in various leading wine regions of Chile, including Maipo Costa, Casablanca, Colchagua, Leyda, and Huasco. Each of these vineyards contributes its unique characteristics to the wines, leading to an impressive variety of flavor profiles. The meticulous care of these vineyards allows Ventisquero to produce wines that not only taste excellent but also express the characteristics of their respective terroirs.
Masterful Winemaking
Under the leadership of head winemaker Felipe Tosso and chief viticulturist Sergio Hormazábal, Ventisquero is dedicated to crafting exquisite wines. Tosso, an experienced winemaker with international experience, brings a global perspective to winemaking, while Hormazábal contributes his deep knowledge of local winegrowing areas. Together, they create wines known not only for their quality but also for their compatibility with a wide range of culinary styles.
