Wine for summer
On June 21st, the time has come: finally the official start of summer! Ending the day on a nice warm summer evening with a light, fruity wine is really something for everyone! In this article we would like to give you tips on which wines you can enjoy even when the temperatures are hot and introduce you to our favorite wines for the summer.
The perfect summer wine
Which wine suits you perfectly for summer is often a question of taste. In general, however, many wine lovers want a summer wine to be light, fresh and not too complex in taste. Wine in summer often has a different meaning than in winter: In summer we like to drink wine, whether for a barbecue or when meeting friends. You can now find out which wines are ideal for these occasions.
Rosé: the typical summer wine
The berry aromas and the beautiful pink appearance are typical characteristics of a summer wine for many. The rosé combines the freshness of a good white wine with the fruity aroma of red wine. Whether for a barbecue or simply on its own: the summer wine scores with its residual sweetness and the berry aromas it often contains.
Rosé is also ideal for many grilled dishes. In addition, rosé is also a wonderful visual accompaniment for a successful summer evening: the beautiful pink color makes it particularly enjoyable – because it is well known that eating or drinking is a feast for the eyes!
Cool white wine in summer
A pleasure for every wine drinker is a well-chilled white wine in hot summer temperatures. White wine is often fruity and lively, bringing a certain lightness with it. Usually the wines have less alcohol than red ones and are fresh with a pleasant residual sweetness. Young wines in particular still have a lot of residual sweetness and are therefore suitable for everyone who likes things a little sweeter and fruitier in summer. Also practical: white wine has always been drunk at a low temperature and is therefore the ideal refreshment in summer.
Insider tip: Red wine as a summer wine
For many, red wine is too heavy and too demanding to be a good summer wine. But if you pay attention to the characteristics of the wine when choosing a red wine, you will also find some suitable summer red wines. In our experience, uncomplicated red wines that contain less than approx. 13% alcohol and have a light, aromatic acidity are well suited as summer wines.
In addition, it doesn’t bother a red wine as much to stand in the warm, then most red wines unfold their ideal taste from a drinking temperature of 15 degrees. So if you fancy a red wine in summer, that’s no problem: just choose a light, aromatic and fresh red wine with a fruity aroma!
