Wines from Portugal – Quinta da Plansel
It all started when a sailing boat sank off the coast of Portugal in 1961. Jörg Böhm, the founder of the Viveiros Plansel nursery, was forced to spend some time in Portugal as a result of the accident. During this time he discovered the different Portuguese landscapes. The Alentejo grape varieties had his greatest attention, after which he bought his first plots for vineyards in 1975. A rather unusual story, but one that marked the beginning of success for the family.
Lindemann-Böhm – a family history
After all, Jörg Böhm shared his great passion for wines from Portugal with his whole family. He was particularly able to inspire his daughter Dorina Lindemann with it. In the early 1990s she decided to go to Portugal with her husband.
Before that, she studied oenology at the University of Geisenheim and devoted herself to wine production. She made it her goal to apply her father’s knowledge to her wines.
The history of the brand “Plansel”
In 1993 Dorina produced her first wine together with Paulo Laureano. Thus the first brand “Plansel” was born. Translated into German, Plansel means “from selected plants”. In the years that followed, Dorina and her husband Thomas built up their winery together.
Quinta da Plansel was founded in Portugal in 2008. Quinta da Plansel is located in Montemor-o-Novo in the northern part of the Alentejo, about 100 km east of Lisbon. The area around Montemor-o-Novo quickly turned out to be an excellent area for authentic and expressive wines.
Meanwhile, Dorina gets active support from her two daughters, who support her in vinification and marketing.
